The Pune-based node awarded by World Rowing in Switzerland
Pune, 24 January: Indian rowing scaled the peak in world recognition, when Pune-based Army Rowing Node (ARN), situated at the College of Military Engineering (CME) campus, was awarded with the ‘Best Rowing Club’ by World Rowing at the Olympic Museum in Lausanne, Switzerland.
The “Rowing Programme of the Year” award is given to World Rowing’s commitment to expanding the international Rowing community, involving clubs, schools and universities more deeply, and highlighting their crucial role in developing the sport.
Army Rowing Node (ARN) topped the final list of three finalists, which included – Rowing for Health (Aviron Santé), Lyon, France and Refugee Integration Programme, Lancaster, United Kingdom by the Executive Committee for the 2025 World Rowing Awards.
The nominees were shortlisted following public nominations, and based on the analysis of expert panels created for each of the eight awards handed by World Rowing. The other awards were, the ‘Artistic Contribution of the Year’, the ‘Men’s Crew of the Year’, the ‘Women’s Crew of the Year’, the Para Crew of the Year’, the ‘Coach of the Year’, the ‘Thomas Keller Medal’ and the ‘Distinguished Service to International Rowing’.
World Rowing, previously named FISA (from the French, Federation International dec Societes d’Aviron) is the governing body of the sport of rowing. It is empowered by its 158 member National Rowing Federation.
