Mumbai: Reacting to the Union Budget 2026, Mr. Abhay Parnerkar, CEO of Godrej Foods Ltd, said the Budget has placed a strong and welcome emphasis on strengthening India’s agriculture, animal husbandry, and food value-chain ecosystem.
Mr. Parnerkar noted that the government’s focus on credit-linked support for animal husbandry, the development of farmer producer organizations (FPOs), and integrated measures to enhance farmer incomes would significantly contribute to building resilient and future-ready food systems.
“The Union Budget 2026 reflects a strong and welcome focus on strengthening India’s Agri and animal husbandry ecosystem. The government’s push towards credit-linked support for animal husbandry, development of farmer producer organizations, and integrated approaches to improving farmer incomes will go a long way in reinforcing resilient, future-ready food value chains,” he said.
Highlighting Godrej Foods Ltd’s commitment to farmers, Mr. Parnerkar added that the company’s farm-to-fork model is anchored in deep partnerships with farming communities. “Farmers remain central to everything we do, from quality and traceability to consumer trust,” he stated.
He further emphasized that continued government investment in agricultural infrastructure, innovation, and manufacturing capabilities would empower farmers while enabling food companies to deliver safe, nutritious, and responsibly produced food to Indian households.
“These measures signal a positive step towards building a more sustainable and inclusive food economy,” Mr. Parnerkar said.
